The film retraces her improbable journey to Melanesia (then known as the land of headhunters) in the 1920s on a quest to find and paint portraits of unspoiled civilisations.
Her journey was nothing short of amazing and, at times, fraught with danger.
Mosquitoes engorged with blood had to be snipped off with scissors; cockroaches the size of hummingbirds chewed on their toes; and a volcanic eruption threatened the very existence of the artwork.
The film will screen at Retford Park, Bowral on Saturday, February 15, and will be introduced by Highlands resident Lynne Ainsworth.
Lynne has a strong family connection to Papua New Guinea and is a personal friend of the film producer.
