Current Situation
- A fire is burning in multiple locations, with current activity in the Tallong, Penrose and Wingello areas.
- The fire has spread into the Southern Highlands from the Currowan fire.
- A storm cell moved across the fire ground on Sunday night causing increased spotting activity and erratic fire behaviour.
- Fire remains active in some parts of the fire ground.
- Fire fighters, supported by water-bombing aircraft are working to strengthen containment.
- Local roads and the Hume Highway may be closed at short notice. Drive to the conditions.
Advice
- If you are in the Penrose, Wingello and Bundanoon areas, continue to monitor conditions as flare ups may occur in and around already burnt areas.
- If you are in the Caoura Rd, Tallong area, continue to monitor the conditions. There is active fire still burning along the Southern parts of Caoura Rd.
- Know what you will do if the fire threatens
