Ken Adams OAM has received the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community of the Southern Highlands, and to the plumbing industry.

'Flabbergasted' was how Mr Adams felt when he first heard that he was to receive the Medal of the Order of Australia and initially thought "why should I deserve an award."
"I don't do the work to get the award," he said.
"You live in the community so you should give back to the community.
"It wouldn't be possible without the support of my wife and family - it should really be going to them."
Mr Adams has been involved in a number of community groups in the Southern Highlands such as DreamCricket, Rotary and the Movement Disorder Foundation.
Mr Adams currently serves as the Movement Disorder Foundation Ambassador, is a current supporter and fundraiser for DreamCricket Australian, where he was also the former secretary between 2008 - 2015.
A member since 1967, Mr Adams has served as the Rotary Club of Bowral-Mittagong twice, served three years as the secretary and was the former treasurer and director of avenues.
Mr Adams represented Rotary International and was the former assistant governor and chairman of Rotary Youth Leadership Program.
Heavily involved in the Bowral Uniting Church, Mr Adams was the chairman of the church council for six years, secretary for the church council for seven years and was the congregational treasurer for 19 years as well as serving as property committee member, building supervisor, a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and has been involved in the establishment of the Men's Shed since 2003.
Other achievements and committees include: Bowral Tulip Time Festival, Berrima District Ambulance Service, Moss Vale College of TAFE, former trust member for Vietnam Memorial, Bowral. Industry Master Plumbers Association of New South Wales and Institute of Plumbing Australia National.
