But now in this recovery phase, four Picton squad and club members have been able to achieve their swimming goals of qualifying for nationals in Adelaide next week.
In the strong wake of coach Anna Barnes's sensational silver medal winning performance last week at Kurnell, four young Picton swimmers achieved their own swimming dream.
- Kyle H-17 from Chevalier
- Kate M-17 from Chevalier
- Murray R-15 from Wollondilly Anglican
- Hannah H-15 from Chevalier.
Despite their youth, the four young swimmers have been guided and trained for a combined 45 years by Picton Club coach Anna Barnes.
These youngsters have all done what is required by any successful swimmer.
They have put in enormous training hours following the black line of Picton Pool.
Each of the swimmers live some distance away from Picton Pool with two travelling over an hour each way to each session.
Their commitment is driven by the wonderful environment of the Picton squad at Wollondilly leisure centre, their awesome coach Anna, great staff and a club and community that celebrates and supports the kids goals.
Picton Swim Club celebrated 50 years at the end of 2019 and seems to be heading for another 50 years of success.
Anyone of any age and swimming ability is most welcome to come and try at Picton Club with our first Friday night back on January 31.
We look forward to seeing you at the pool.
