Grab a seat, sit back and enjoy the soulful tunes of Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows as they return to Bowral Bowling Club on January 24 on their Lover Surrender Tour. Keen to hit the music scene and add a sense of normality among the bushfire disaster, Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows aren't here for drinks, they're here to play. Catch classics such as 'Chained to the Wheel' and 'Shape I'm In' as well as 'Wednesday's Child' from the latest album 'Citizen John'. Doors open at 6 pm, with tickets available from Moshtix or at the door.
FireAid Bushfire Relief Concert
- January 24, Bong Bong Racecourse, 3 pm
Join a lineup of stars and raise money for bushfire relief. The line-up will include John Waters, Darryl Braithwaite, John Paul Young, Megan Washington, Jack Jones, Margaret Urlich, Leo Sayer and Stewart D'Arrietta with the songs of Leonard Cohen. The concert will be hosted by Julia Zemiro, from television's Rockwiz and Julia Zemiro's Home Delivery. All of funds raised will be distributed to the Wingecarribee mayoral relief fund and the Rural Fire Service Southern Highlands team. Tickets to FireAid 2020 are on sale now via the Ticketek website.The cost is $65 for adults and $20 for people under 16. There is also an option to pay $250 for numbered seats provided in two sections close to the stage.
Midweek Lunchtime Music Recital
- January 22, Saint Jude's Anglican Church, Bowral, 1:15 pm
Enjoy a midweek lunchtime recital at Saint Jude's Anglican Church. Resident organist Allan Beavis will delight you with a program that includes the "Great" Prelude and Fugue in G major by Bach, Cantilenat Pastorale and Sonata No. 2 by Guilmant. Alexandre Guilmant was on of the founders of the French Romantic School of Organ Playing. Admission is by donation.
Australia Day Historic Berrima
- January 26, Village of Historic Berrima, 9 am - 4 pm
With over 50-market stalls local and interstate and entertainment for all the family grand parades vintage cars, fire engine displays, fresh produce markets, face painting there is something for everyone. The official part of the day starts at the Historic Berrima Court House Museum at 9.30 am where young citizen and citizen of the year awards are given by the mayor of the shire. After the awards ceremony its then off to enjoy the rest of the day to hunt for that allusive piece of craft either in the market square in the more traditional shops. A collection bucket for the RFS will be in the marketplace.
