About 12.30pm on January 13, police have been told that an eight-year-old girl was riding her bicycle around Lake Alexandra, when a white four-wheel-drive, driven by an unknown man, stopped next to her.
The man exited the vehicle and approached the girl, allegedly inviting her into the van for lollies.
The girl immediately rode her bicycle from the scene and reported it to her grandmother.
The matter was reported to officers from The Hume Police District and an investigation commenced.
As inquiries continue, investigators would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist.
He has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 40 and 50, with grey hair.
He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with pink, blue and green triangles on it.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this van or have dashcam footage or CCTV from the surrounding areas to contact Southern Highlands police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
