A letter will be sent out to eligible properties detailing how to use the service and items that will be accepted free of charge. The free waste disposal service will be operational for our Wingecarribee neighbours from January 14 to February 28.

To be eligible for the free service residents must bring a copy of the letter received from Council, and proof of their residential address such as a driver's licence or a rates notice. All loads will be inspected.

Acting CEO, Toni Averay said: "This is a great example of Councils working collaboratively to help residents in both Wollondilly and Wingecarribee communities towards healing and recovery".

To assist the community during recovery from the recent bushfires across the Wollondilly Shire, Council has been providing a free waste drop-off service at the Bargo Waste Management Centre to residents whose properties have been affected by the fires.

Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth said he was happy to collarobate with Wingecarribbe Shire Council

"I'm am also happy to announce that the free service currently available for those affected residents in Wollondilly Shire has been extended from January 14 to February 28," he said.

Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Duncan Gair said that the offer was a great outcome for residents of both Balmoral and Buxton.

"The Green Wattle Creek fire didn't differentiate between Council boundaries," he said.

"Likewise, with both Councils working collaboratively together we're able to respond and provide assistance to residents regardless of which Shire they pay their rates in."

"I thank Mayor Deeth and the staff of Wollondilly Shire Council for this generous offer and helping our bushfire affected residents move forward."
