With free snags and 100% proceeds from the coffee and scone deals from the Ironstone Cafe being donated to Litres for the Land, everyone in attendance was giving generously for drought impacted communities.

Mittagong RSL's general manager Daniel Marmont wanted people unable to attend to know, it won't just be today you can donate.

"We understand that some people won't be able to make it today," Mr Marmont said.

"But the Salvation Army won't actually be doing the run until next week. If anybody wants to come down later in the week and make some sort of donation, whether it's a toy for a child or teenager and non perishable food items. Someone has even delivered dog food.

"Every farmer has a dog. I reckon that is just a marvelous thought. Whatever people are willing to donate, I'm sure the Salvation Army will find someone to give it to."

Besides much needed food and leisure items, cash is also being raised.

"The cash donation box will be open for the next few days," Mr Marmont said.

"We'll leave it at the reception area. It will most likely get closed off on Friday.

"But, if someone comes in Saturday or Sunday, we're happy to still take the donation.

"They can also jump onto the Litres for the Land website and make a straight donation there."
