On January 4 Michelle and 27 other students, from as far away as India, will gather in the Australian country music capital for a two-week intensive senior course at The Academy.
Michelle has appeared on The Voice Australia in 2018 and 2012, and has supported artists including Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Adam Brand, Jenny Morris, Brian Cadd, Russell Morris and Paul Kelly. Michelle aims to move people by sharing stories they can connect with. She is currently working on her first country album, the single Guys Like You will be released early 2020.
Students will learn about all aspects of the music business, musical performance, songwriting, promotion, and recording, among other aspects of making a career in music, all from top industry insiders.
The Academy has welcomed students from India for the first time in the course's history, with other students travelling from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, NSW, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Academy director Lyn Bowtell said the program was a premier educational opportunity for those wanting a career in the music industry.
"With the excellent reputation of the course, we have welcomed more applications than ever, making student selection even more competitive."
The Academy general manager Roger Corbett said students found their tribe during each course, and the education they received and relationships they formed during their time together were invaluable, with most groups staying in contact for years, even decades after they'd graduated.
"As well as the world-class tutors, songwriters, and industry professionals that the students are able to meet and learn from, the relationships they form are priceless for their development as artists," he said.
"The education that students receive at The Academy cannot be found anywhere else."
