Thousands of dollars worth of non-perishable foodstuffs and toiletries donated by the Southern Highlands community.
These were collected at designated collection points in Mittagong, Hill Top, Bowral and Burradoo and then repacked by volunteers at the Tankar Self Storage premises in Mittagong.
Co-ordinator of the Food Drive, Julia Weisz was assisted by a wonderful team of volunteers from RARsh who promoted the event with flyers and posters, collected donated items and were also present in front of Woolworths in Bowral and Harris Farm Bowral over two Saturdays where shoppers could buy and donate immediately.
The Food Drive was made into an even more outstanding success with the amazing involvement of the socially responsible and sympathetic company JobAdder which contributed a truck full of goods purchased from a large supermarket and delivered directly to the Asylum Seekers Centre.
RARsh is very appreciative of this enormous contribution to this most important initiative.
A second hired truck fully loaded with boxes of donated goods ( hire cost and fuel also donated) was then driven by one of our volunteers to Sydney where all items were unloaded and stored.
The Asylum Seekers Centre will now have food and other necessities to supply the growing number of people dependent on their services and hopefully the supply will be sufficient over this very busy end of the year period.
RARsh wishes to say a big thank you to all those who were involved with the 2019 Monster Food Drive, and all those who donated their time, funds, goods and energy so generously.
