Wingecarribee Shire Council will celebrate National Grandparents Day on October 24.
Council's Coordinator of Community Development, Cath Brennan explained the importance of the event.
"Each year Council hosts our Shire's local Grandparents Day celebrations to help recognise the contributions grandparents and older people make to their families and the broader community," she said.
"It allows us to celebrate the diversity of grandparent relationships across age groups, cultural backgrounds and geographical locations.
"The day also reminds us of the support parents and grandparents provide which we can sometimes take for granted."
As part of the free celebrations a petting zoo, photo booth, puppet show, craft activities provided by the CWA Moss Vale Evening Branch, picnic lunch and reading corner will be set up for children and grandparents.
"We invite everyone to join us for what is sure to be a fun-filled day as we celebrate Grandparents Day," Ms Brennan added.
Wingecarribee Shire Council's Grandparents Day celebrations will be held on Thursday 24 October 2019 from 10am to 1pm in Council's Civic Centre courtyard.
For further information about Council's free Grandparents Day activities phone Cath Brennan on 4868 0888 or email at cath.brennan@wsc.nsw.gov.au.
