A Canyonleigh Road resident is calling on council to remove trees he believes are dangerous.

Former tree lopper George Quigg said he has written letters to council about "dry and overhanging" trees on his street for years.
"The trees are getting old and the drought hasn't helped. It's causing them to deteriorate and die," he said.

"[A fortnight ago] a large, dry tree that I had marked with red and white ribbon approximately two years ago fell, miraculously missing all cars but blocking the very busy Canyonleigh Road."
Bundanoon resident Graham Tooth said his car windscreen was hit by a tree on Canyonleigh Road.
"I was driving along there when a limb blew out of the tree and smashed my windscreen," he said.

A Wingecarribee Shire Council spokeswoman said council would "work with the customer to organise an on-site assessment".
"Removal of trees is seen as a last option," she said.
She said council would assess the removal of trees based on the following characteristics:

- The health and structural condition of the tree/s
- The level of risk the tree poses which cannot be managed through pruning or other risk mitigation measures
- If the tree is causing significant damage to public infrastructure
- If the tree is causing significant damage to structures on private property
- Any other reason at the discretion of council's staff, which can be justified either on arboricultural, technical or legal grounds according to particular circumstances.
