October 2, 2018 marked a new era in the delivery of our news, both for us and our readers - and we want to sincerely thank those who have taken the journey with us.
For 60 years we shared the news of this region through print in the form of our newspapers.
But in the 21st century, where convenience, accessibility and quick delivery have become an expectation, we knew we had to meet the modern demands of our news savvy customer.
That meant providing an outlet where people could get the news almost as soon as it happened.
It meant creating a resource that could be available from the minute you woke up, during your morning tea or lunch break, when you sat in front of the television of an evening and before you put your head down to sleep at the end of the day.
It meant still providing a print option for those who want it, and even a digital print option on our website for those who like the look of a newspaper but the convenience of online delivery.
Our journalists have gone from delivering the news in print three days a week, to creating reliable, credible, local content online seven days a week and available at your fingertips on computer, phone or tablet, anywhere, anytime.
All you need is the internet.
And, just to make sure our loyal supporters are kept in the loop, we've introduced breaking news emails, subscriber newsletters and giveaways, and a newsletter highlighting the editor's picks of the week.
All this has been made possible by the loyal support of our readers, who value the local voice and community connection the Southern Highlands News provides.
At $3 a week (or $2.40 for those who take up an annual subscription) it is clear that the cost of getting the news of the Southern Highlands is more affordable than ever.
We are truly grateful to those many people who have recognised the value of the service we deliver and opted to support us in this new era of more accessible news.
Your support as a subscriber ensures we can continue to cover court, council, sport and community events, and lobby politicians on your behalf.
We look forward to continually sourcing stories that you, our loyal subscribers, enjoy.
We strive to provide you with the news first and quickly draw your attention to breaking news or picks of the week through our newsletters.
We also welcome story suggestions and feedback from our subscribers, particularly through our Facebook subscribers' page, which provides a safe forum for intelligent debate.
Ultimately we aim to ensure your reading experience is enjoyable and valuable because we value all those people who have put their trust in us to keep them informed.
Meanwhile, those who are still pondering the option to subscribe why not take up the opportunity to sample this new era in news with our offer of a 30 day trial.
