The Springett family was part of the original organisers of the Tulip Time Festival in its inception in 1960 and this year they have transformed the arcade in to a tribute to Mary Poppins, this year's theme for Tulip Time.
Visit Springett's Arcade chalk art installation on the gallery level of the arcade. Introduced by general manager Mark Springett in Christmas 2016 to bring a bit of fun and lively art to the arcade, the current mural theme is Jenny McCarthy's interpretation of Mary Poppins.
"The art changes every 11 weeks in Springett's Arcade and brings in the very talented artists from Zest Events," he said.
"We are delighted to have Jenny McCarthy's interpretation of the Mary Poppins theme in conjunction with Tulip Time 2019."
Don't forget to look up when you're visiting the arcade.
There will be a suspended umbrella artwork installation between September 16 - October 7.
More than 80 suspended umbrellas will hang from the skylights of the historic arcade and is a stunning tribute to the Mary Poppins theme for Tulip Time. Visitors are invited to spot the handmade 2-metre by 1-metre suspended kite, which is a nod to the classic Mary Poppins movie and song 'Let's fly a kite'.
Children between the ages of five to 12 will have the chance to enjoy an hour with Australian children's authors Kate and Jol Temple, who will read books, talk about the creative process and even show how it's done with some interactive activities on October 5 from 11 am to 12 pm.
All proceeds from the event go to Rare Cancers Australia, a charity whose purpose is to improve awareness, support and treatment of Australians with rare and less common (RLC) cancers. Book tickets on https://www.springettsarcade.com.au/whats-happening.
