The next monthly meeting of the Mittagong Branch of the CWA will be held in the meeting rooms in Winifred West Park, Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, on September 25. Come along for craft at 11.00am (bring your own project or join the ladies knitting squares), followed by lunch at 12:00pm. The meeting will commence at 1:00pm. CWA cafe
CWA Bowral Branch will be serving up treats once more during Tulip Time. The branch will operate a cafe from its premises in Wingecarribee Street, Bowral (adjacent to Corbett Gardens) from Tuesday September 24 to October 7. Opening hours 9.30am to 3.30pm every day.
Devonshire tea or coffee, sandwiches and slices will be available for sale. A selection of home made jams, pickles and handicraft, as well as some books and bric-a-brac also be on sale.
Singalong
The next singalong at the Mittagong Uniting Church will be held on September 23 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Guest entertainers will be Southern Highlands Christian Band. All are welcome. Details: Shonagh Moore 4871 1369.
Spring Fair
The Bowral Uniting Church (opposite Coles in Bendooley Street, Bowral) will hold its Spring Market Fair at the Church on September 27 and 28. The two day country style event will offer a huge range of attractions and items for sale including home-made chutneys, jams, cakes and more, arts and crafts, pre-loved books and bric-a-brac, potted plants, Devonshire teas and coffee, light lunches and a sausage sizzle. There will also e a jumping castle and other activities for children to enjoy. The fair will run from 8am to 3pm on both days and all are welcome.
Orchid Society
The Southern Highlands Orchid Society annual orchid show will be held on September 28 in the Alexandra Room at Mittagong RSL Club. This will run from 9am to 2pm and entry is by gold coin donationto go to charity. There will be orchids for sale and potting demonstrations. Country Fair
St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Bowral, will hold a Country Fair in its grounds on the corner of Bendooley and Wingecarribee Streets opposite Corbett Gardens on September 27 and 28. There will be many stalls featuring cakes, jams, plants, crafts, bric-a-brac and books as well as Devonshire Teas and light lunches. There will also be live music in the church building from 11am from "Sing Australia" and on the some cool jazz on September 28 featuring a quintet of renowned local musicians performing tunes from yesteryear. Funds raised will go towards ongoing maintenance of the heritage-listed building at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Bendooley Street, Bowral.
4K's Gents lunch
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Kollege of Knowledge Kommittee for Kids Gent's lunch to be held on October 25. The event will be held at the Highlands Golf Club, Mittagong, and will commence at midday. Entertainment will be provided by comedian Vince Sorrenti. First Fleeters
The Fellowship of the First Fleeters Southern Highlands Chapter will meet next on October 9 from 10.30am. This will be held at the Mittagong Community Centre on the Corner of Albert Lane and Queen Street, Mittagong. Guest speaker will be Ted Westwood who is a descendent of First Fleeters John Martin and John Randall. He will speak on the topic Elizabeth Macarthur - A life at the edge of the world. Busy Bees
Mittagong Uniting Church Busy Bees preschool playgroup is held in the church hall each Friday morning from 10am to noon. Everyone with little people are welcome to join the group.
English lessons
Free English lessons are now on offer each Thursday at the Moss Vale Presbyterian Church. The lessons are for those keen to learn English as their second language. They will be held from 1.30pm to 2-30pm. Details: 0451 234 323.
Bereavement support
Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service Suicide Bereavement Support Group is held on the first Tuesday of each month. This is facilitated by bereavement counsellors Donna and Jo-Anne. This group will be ongoing and held from 6.30pm to 8.00pm each month in Bowral. If you are living with grief after the suicide death of a family member or friend, you are encouraged to come along to the group. Meetings are held at in Bowral at a location yet to be advised. Scottish dance
Would you like to learn more and improve your balance, stimulate your mind, enjoy the music and learn jigs, reels and strathspeys? Southern Highlands Scottish Dancers are keen to share their skills with others. All dances are walked through first and new dancers are welcome. The group meets at Moss Vale Uniting Church hall each Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. A fee of $6 is charged and a light supper is provided. Summer fair
Plans are underway for the Warrigal Summer Fair to be held at 20 Hill Street, Bundanoon, on November 10. This will run from 9.30am to 3pm. Tables are for hire for $35 so that people can sell their bric-a-brac or Christmas craft or other goodies. Other attractions will include a barbecue, Devonshire teas, a cake stall, good quality pre-loved clothing stall, a raffle and much more. Details: Susanna on 0414 629 433 for information pack.

Morning tea
Every Friday morning between 10am and midday the foyer of the Mittagong Anglican Church is open to the public for free morning tea. The church's professional barista knows how to make one of the best coffees in town. A professional counsellor offering free support to those who might want to talk privately is also available. Come and join the group and make new friends in a relaxed and warm environment. St. Stephens Church is on the corner of Station and Main Streets and has been reaching out to the community for more than 140 years.
Toastmasters
The Southern Highlands Toastmasters is held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Mittagong RSL Club from 7.30pm. Toastmasters provides an opportunity for people to learn how to speak in public in a relaxed environment. Details: Colin Emerson on 0429 389 744.
Folk dance
Do you enjoy dancing or would you like to learn to dance? Here's a great opportunity not to be missed. Dance your way around the world with folk dances taught in easy steps. Seniors' Club
Mittagong Seniors' Club meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong. Come for morning tea at 10am to learn more. Activities include craft, games, ukulele and various outings.
Line dancing
Mittagong Seniors Club has introduced a new option for getting fit while having fun. Line dancing classes will be held at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong, each Tuesday from 11am. New members are welcome and membership is $10 a year and $3 a day.
Gentle exercise
A program offering gentle exercise at a gentle pace with a focus on mobility, physical and mental stimulation is available each Thursday at the Bowral Presbyterian Church hall in Bendooley Street, Bowral. Classes are from 11.45am-12.30pm. Details: Margaret 0466 166 866 or 4861 2294.
Garden walk
The next walking adventure of the Southern Highlands Bushwalkers Inc will be held on September 29 at the Mount Annan Botanic Gardens. This will be a moderate walk covering about 12km of tracks around the gardens. There will be some steep sections.
