The documentary 2040 inspired a partnership between Southern Highlands businesses WILDfest and Carousel Lifestyle with support from Quarter Acre Farm to organise the region's first ever ReGeneration Weekend.
From 6pm on October 25 a screening of the film 2040 will be held at The Mill in Bowral.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with filmmaker Damon Gameau, Landcare award winner Charlie Arnott, director of Biodynamics2024 Hamish Mackay, Lizzie Buscaino from Piccolo Farm, and Joanne Dodd from Quarter Acre Farm.
Concerned about his young daughter's future, Mr Gameau traveled the world in search of new approaches and solutions to global warming. During his adventures he found we had the tools to make a difference. This event is about connecting the community to move from inspiration to action.
On October 26 from 10am until 5pm, The Mill will come alive with screenings, sustainability workshops, speakers, fresh produce markets and artisan stalls.
Co-organiser Amanda Fry said she wanted to create an event where everyone who worked to protect the environment could come together.
"Life is busy so let's choose actions we can succeed at and then when we can do more," she said.
Fellow co-organiser Jessian Polk said she had worked in the fashion industry for more than 20 years.
"The amount of waste and carbon footprint we produce has always been a concern," she said.
"Our ReGeneration weekend is just the start of further work we all can do to take this message to the young, into our homes and across all generations."
A gold coin donation is requested upon entry.
