Local breweries raised the bar at this year's annual Independent Beer Awards ensuring that eight prestigious honours were kept in the Southern Highlands.
Organised by the Independent Brewers Association this year's awards night took place in Mittagong on September 6.
Southern Highlands Brewing Co walked away with two silver medals and a bronze medal, while Eden Brewery racked up three bronze medals.
The Southern Highlands Brewing Co won silver for its Naked Harvest Ale and Celtic beer, and a bronze for 'The Goodfather' beer.
With every litre of 'The Goodfather' sold, Southern Highlands Brewing Co donates $1 to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, as both of the founders lost their fathers to brain cancer.
Eden brewery won its bronze medals for their Pheonix D Kottbusser and Argania Bock beers, and their Palm Pale Ale.
The co-founders of Eden Breweries, Deb and Jacob have committed 10 per cent of their sales to Oxfam, in hopes of providing clean water to those in need.
Jacob and his team also create a beer once a month, with 100 per cent of the profits going towards the Forever Project. This project is an organisation that works closely with Tanzanian families who are unable to provide for their children.
The awards didn't only showcase the breweries, but some of the people behind the scenes that help make everything happen.
Berrima local, Dan McCulloch from Lallemands Brewery was awarded the IBA Young Gun of the Year and Bowral local, Neal Cameron who is a brewer and brewing teacher claimed the highest accomplishment, winning Champion Service to the Industry.
The Independent Beer Awards (Indies) is judged by a widely respected panel of esteemed national and international beer judges.
This award show is considered by those in the industry as an invaluable platform for brewers to display their beers and showcase and celebrate excellence in the independent craft beer.
The Indies are open for entry to Australian and International independent brewing companies.
The award-winning beers created by Southern Highlands Brewing Co are available from Southern Highlands Brewing and Taphouse, at 490-494 Argyle St, Moss Vale NSW 2577. Meanwwhile the Eden Brewery beers are available at the brewery at 1/9 Cavendish St, Mittagong.
