Our brains are integral to every act we perform, how we think, how we move, the stories we tell ourselves and and the decisions we make. If our brains are healthy, we can move towards being happier, healthier, wealthier, wiser, more creative and more innovative.
When the brain works in our service, we have access to insight, intuition, wisdom, humour, spontaneity, creativity and compassion. These are essential qualities for a meaningful life especially in challenging circumstances. When the brain is preoccupied the future or the past, we lose access to these qualities.
Our choices contribute positively or negatively to the brain's health. No matter what state our brain is in, we can improve its functionality.
There are things that contribute to poor brain health, such as an obvious brain injury to lack of sleep, alcohol, obesity, digestive problems, diabetes, hormonal imbalances and more.
Petrea King of Quest for Life said research was identifying the factors that contribute to the development of dementia.
"By educating people in healthier lifestyle choices for the brain and body, people can improve their memory, concentration and curiosity," Ms King said.
We all want to age well, while actively contributing to our loved-one's lives. There is no single reason why memory loss occurs. There are many factors that influence brain function. There is no single method to reverse memory loss. There are many lifestyle practices and strategies that may significantly improve it and they all lie within our power to implement. To age well, we need to understand the power of:
- Sound sleep
- Mindful exercise
- Nutrition which nourishes the brain
- Emotional literacy and regulation
- Meditation
- Mindfulness
- Communication skills and conflict resolution
We have the information necessary to make our brains function better. Learning to harness these skills on the Reclaiming Your Brain program means you could see an improvement in how your brain operates in as little as two months. With each noticeable improvement, you can add another positive and eliminate another negative. Each step brings you closer to a healthy brain.
The highly-experienced professional team will educate, encourage and support participants over the five-day program. They include psychologists, counsellors, a massage therapist, naturopath and yoga teacher who will provide an holistic program that addresses the mind, body and spirit of each participant.
You're not your brain, you have a brain and you can make it better.
