The Wingecarribee Unit of the SES will open its doors and turn on the barbecue to let the young people of the Highlands know more about the organisation's work.
Anyone aged 16-25 is invited to attend the event to be held at the SES headquarters at 16 Bessemer Street, Mittagong, from 10am to 3pm.
The day will feature a variety of activities and those in attendance will be treated to a free sausage sizzle.
Wingecarribee SES is the primary rescue unit for the Wingecarribee Shire. It is responsible for all road crash rescues, general land rescues, industrial domestic rescues, vertical rescues and large Animal rescues.
The Wingecarribee unit is the busiest rescue unit in NSW with more than 75 rescues already this calendar year.
Unit Commander, Heather Rowe said the open day was "a great opportunity for young people to come and find out more about what we do as a unit relating to our storm and rescue work."
"I would highly encourage any young person who is interested in emergency services to attend and find out more about what we do," she said.
"There are many activities scheduled for the day including a rock-wall where we will be demonstrating vertical rescues, chainsaw safety, first-aid demonstrations. In addition to this, the unit will have on show the brand new rescue truck, Wingecarribee 46, along with the tools contained within it."
