Southern highlands View Club will hold its next monthly meeting on September 9 at 1pm at the Mittagong RSL Club. The guest speaker this month is Inspector John Klepczarek from Moss Vale Police Station who will be talking about "Scams and Safety". Visitors, and new members are welcome. 4K's Gents lunch
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Kollege of Knowledge Kommittee for Kids Gent's lunch to be held on October 25. The event will be held at the Highlands Golf Club, Mittagong, and will commence at midday. Entertainment will be provided by comedian Vince Sorrenti. Singalong
Mittagong Uniting Church will present a singalong on August 26 in the church at 1-7 Albert Street, Mittagong. Come along and be entertained by a quartet consisting of Robin Smith on Piano, Adrienne Bradney Smith on clarinet, April Butcher on Flute and Sarah Hicks playing the Cello. Afternoon Tea will be served and large print songbooks are available. Entry is from 1.45pm for a 2pm start and all are welcome. A gold coin donation is always welcome. Bushwalk
Southern Highlands Bushwalkers will trek around Homebush, Parramatta River and Kokoda Track Memorial Walk on September 8. Participants will travel from Lidcome Station to Cabarita Ferry via Olympic Stadiums, Brickpit, Bicentennial Park, Mangrove Boardwalks, Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway and follow Parramatta River. Downton Abbey tickets
There are now more chances to attend a premiere screening of the movie Downton Abbey following a second ticket release. This Can Assist fundraising event will be held at the Empire Cinema on September 12. In fact it is a major annual fundraising event for the charity with all money used to support people in the Southern Highlands living cancer and their families. Additional tickets are now on sale. They are $25 per person which includes light refreshments and are available at the cinema box office.
CWA meeting
Mittagong Branch of CWA will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 28 at the rooms in Winifred West Park, Old Hume Highway, Mittagong. Activities for the day will include handicraft from 10.30 am, lunch from midday, and the meeting from 1pm. Visitors are welcome. Details: Beverley on 4871 1483.
English lessons
Free English lessons are now on offer each Thursday at the Moss Vale Presbyterian Church. The lessons are for those keen to learn English as their second language. They will be held from 1.30pm to 2-30pm. Details: 0451 234 323.

Bereavement support
Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service Suicide Bereavement Support Group is held on the first Tuesday of each month. This is facilitated by bereavement counsellors Donna and Jo-Anne. This group will be ongoing and held from 6.30pm to 8.00pm each month in Bowral. If you are living with grief after the suicide death of a family member or friend, you are encouraged to come along to the group. Meetings are held at in Bowral at a location yet to be advised. Lifeline program

Scottish dance
Would you like to learn more and improve your balance, stimulate your mind, enjoy the music and learn jigs, reels and strathspeys? Southern Highlands Scottish Dancers are keen to share their skills with others. All dances are walked through first and new dancers are welcome. The group meets at Moss Vale Uniting Church hall each Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. A fee of $6 is charged and a light supper is provided. Annual social
Southern Highlands Scottish Country Dance group members will put their moves to the test in a night of fun. The group, which now boasts 25 members, will make the most of their dancing skills at the annual social on September 7. This will be held at the Bowral Uniting Church hall from 7.30pm. Summer fair
Plans are underway for the Warrigal Summer Fair to be held at 20 Hill Street, Bundanoon, on November 10. This will run from 9.30am to 3pm. Tables are for hire for $35 so that people can sell their bric-a-brac or Christmas craft or other goodies. Morning tea
Every Friday morning between 10am and midday the foyer of the Mittagong Anglican Church is open to the public for free morning tea. The church's professional barista knows how to make one of the best coffees in town. A professional counsellor offering free support to those who might want to talk privately is also available. Come and join the group and make new friends in a relaxed and warm environment. St. Stephens Church is on the corner of Station and Main Streets and has been reaching out to the community for more than 140 years.
Toastmasters
The Southern Highlands Toastmasters is held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Mittagong RSL Club from 7.30pm. Toastmasters provides an opportunity for people to learn how to speak in public in a relaxed environment. Details: Colin Emerson on 0429 389 744.

Mittagong Seniors Club has introduced a new option for getting fit while having fun. Line dancing classes will be held at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong, each Tuesday from 11am. New members are welcome and membership is $10 a year and $3 a day.
Gentle exercise
