The Old Pot Factory Garden Emporium co-owner Catherine Healey thanked firefighters for containing a fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon.
"A big thank you, we owe the emergency services that came to help us, it was overwhelming," Mrs Healy said.
"A heartfelt thank you but particularly to the firefighters, they were absolutely exemplary.
"It's like a war zone, they don't look left or right. It was an extraordinary event to watch these people."
Just after midday on August 15, NSW Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service crews were called to the Old Hume Highway business at Isedale Road.
They were assisted by Southern Highlands police officers and traffic crews.
Firefighters remained at the scene for the remainder of the day.
The fire caused damage to the business and some of its stock, and affected traffic in both directions for several hours.
Traffic lights were flashing yellow and alternating stop/slow traffic conditions were enforced.
The business is currently closed and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Mrs Healy said she and her husband Tony hoped to have the business re-opened by next week, however this would depend on the advice of their insurance company.
