A man was travelling along Merrigang Street in Bowral at about 7.30pm on August 15, when police detected him travelling at 76km/h in a 50km/h zone.
An officer pulled the man over and conducted a drug test.
The test produced a positive reading and has been sent away in order to assess what drug was in the man's system.
Southern Highlands Police Sergeant Darren Farr said police had poor driver behaviour in their sights.
"We urge people to stick to the speed, and sooner or later they'll be tested for drugs if they have any in their system," Sergeant Farr said.
