Eighteen-year-old Mittagong resident Angela Hughes has been selected to be a part of the 2020 Future Young Leaders program.
Angela will present to 1,500 delegates at the Asia Pacific's largest agrifood tech event evokeAG in Melbourne in February.
She is a passionate advocate for the Asia-Pacific agrifood tech sector and is optimistic about the future of the industry.
The Mittagong resident is currently studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University via distance.
Angela juggles this with working on her family beef cattle property, at Landmark and in hospitality.
Angela believes there is a lack of knowledge about farming and farming practices and is enthusiastic about educating the public.
She aims to bridge the knowledge gap between producers and consumers.
It's a rare opportunity to voice her ideas in front of an international audience of investors, producers, corporates, researchers, government and industry.
"It's so important for young people to have a voice," Angela said.
"We are the next adopters of the industry, the driving force, and we have ideas on the direction we think it needs to take."
She is excited about sharing her ideas on how the hospitality and agricultural industries.
She believes we can work better together to drive profitability and productivity for both parties.
