Works involve replacing and restoring the building's roof including gutters, downpipes, ridge capping and timber batons.
The building will also receive a fresh coat of paint in-line with its heritage character.
The library will close temporarily in early September 2019 for approximately four weeks.
Throughout the closure, the Wingecarribee Mobile Library will visit the Queen Street site every Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4.30pm.
The popular Preschool Story Time program will be held each Thursday from 11am at the Girl Guides Hall, located adjacent to the library at 10 Albert Street in Mittagong.
This project is funded by Council's Investing in our Future Special Rate Variation program.
