The recently-released Domain House Price Report for the June quarter shows the median price for homes and how they have changed in recent years.
Wingecarribee not only topped the list for the most expensive place to buy a home at $752,500, it also recorded the highest percentage growth during the past five years.
Data from the report shows it recorded a 52.8 per cent jump in the median house prices from $492,500 in 2014 to $752,500 this year.
This means anyone looking for a home in Wingecarribee will need to find an additional $260,000.
The second highest growth was in Yass Valley which recorded a 52.3 per cent increase, from $407,000 to $620,000 (up by $213,000).
In Goulburn-Mulwaree the median cost of buying a home increased by 33.8 per cent during the five-year period.
In 2014 the cost was $317,614, but data in the Domain report showed this has soared to $425,000 (up by $107,386).
The booming costs in these regional locations are a stark comparison to the falling house prices in Sydney.
While the median cost remains above $1 million ($1,032,338), data in this report shows prices are now 14 per cent below the mid-2017 peak.
