Shane Green's second placing in Sydney earned him a ticket to the national and international finals of the huge Masters HQ competition in Brisbane from October 25-27, 2019.
A member of Benton Gym's Crossfit program in Braemar, Shane Green's path to the prestigious finals started in April with three online qualifier events that saw Shane finish fourth in Australia in the more challenging RX division.
The events required athletes to complete designated fitness workouts, with results posted online.
The workouts at the Masters HQ semi finals in Sydney on July 13 included rowing, skipping, weight bar work, dumbbell lifting and gymnastic movements.
Shane said he was keen to make the podium at the finals in QLD in October.
"I trained hard for the semi finals and it was so motivating to have the support of the Benton Gym team there on the day," said Shane.
"It was also so gratifying and rewarding to compete against crossfitters of my own age and ability. Exercise is important at any age, especially as we get older.
"Regular exercise keeps you strong and healthy. I've been at Benton Gym now for a year and there are quite a lot of us there over 30 who all challenge themselves every day and have a lot of fun at the same time.
"I'm looking forward to the finals in October and training hard to make the grade."
