A 'Country Lining 101' will be held on on July 27 at Exeter Village Hall to chat about all the perks of a tree change and how to deal with the transition from bustling city living to rural bliss.
Hear about dealing with wildlife in and around your home, country roads and hazards, how to prepare for bushfires and emergencies, dealing with pests, weeds and feral animals and available services and facilities in the area.
There will also be presentations from the NSW Police, Local Land Services, Exeter Rural Fire Service, the farming community and members of the CWA Exeter branch.
'Country Living 101' is the brain child of Exeter CWA member Jennifer Beers who proposed the seminar based on her own experience five years ago when she and her husband first moved to the Southern Highlands.
"When my husband and I moved here we found there were lots of things we had to ask questions about," she said.
"Like what do you do when you encounter stray stock on the road, why the cattle next door were suddenly making a racket, and what should we be doing about the rabbits and foxes in the garden.
"We certainly could have done with some sort of information... so we are hoping to tap in to those people who have recently moved to the Highlands for the first time and who would find it useful to have a bit of an orientation to rural living."
To attend RSVP to Jennifer on 48834629 by July 24. The seminar starts at 1 pm and will be followed by afternoon tea and question time from 3:30 pm. Cost is $10 per person and will include take home notes.
CWA Exeter meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Exeter Village Hall from 9:30 am.
