Union workers have voted to take industrial action.
Workers from Wingecarribee Shire Council held a stop work meeting at 7:30 am to protest the change of hours at the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC).
Members across the RRC, sewage and water, roads and construction and other council departments voted to strike until 12 pm July 16, when the next stop working meeting will take place.
United Union Services spokesperson Rudi Oppitz said the changes will mean workers will lose $7000 annually.
"The roster change will mean workers no longer work nine days a fortnight," he said.
"It's now a 10 day roster and personal arrangements among families have been thrown in to disarray."
A second stop work meeting will be held at 12 pm at the Moss Vale Civic Centre.
Earlier in the year Wingecarribee Shire Council reduced the hours after a review conducted by council staff which looked at peak customer usage times and demand at the facility.
The change of hours at the RRC will save the council $200,000 a year.
