Councillors at Wingecarribee Shire Council voted unanimously on July 10 to support the heritage listing of Aitken Road in Bowral.
The council supported the recommendation for the proposed heritage listing of the 'Aitken Road Interwar Housing Group' and the creation of the 'Aitken Road Conservation Area'.
In October 2018 a development application was lodged for a residential care facility on a property at 39-41 Aitken Road.
This application proposed the demolition of all the buildings on the site and the removal of 37 trees.
The community raised concerns about the development and its impact on the heritage significance of the site and neighboring properties.
The property 'Grantham'on Aitken Road is home to a historic cricket pitch.
This was regularly used by a young Sir Donald Bradman at the invitation of former Bowral mayor Alf Stephens.
The original subdivision of the area was undertaken in 1921.
Aitken Road is an example of Interwar housing and was originally called Golf Links View Estate.
Council placed a Interim Heritage Order over the property and four of its neighbors in January 2019.
Cr Garry Turland said the council was already in court in relation to the Interim Heritage Order and the "failure to comply with the DA after 60 days".
Cr Turland said the council was fighting two court cases in relation to the DA at the moment.
