When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine that's... the Southern Pie Lands.
Nine News regional southern NSW and ACT presenter, Vanessa O'Hanlon, has been named ambassador for Pie Time 2019.
The month-long June celebration of all things pie started after a staff member at Destination Southern Highlands realised how many places serve pies after a scenic drive through the region.
Vanessa took on the the role of ambassador with enthusiasm as she wanted to explore what the Southern Highlands had to offer.
"I love visiting places," Vanessa said.
"There is so much to do in the Highlands."
Vanessa said people usually associate pies with guys going to the footy but there is so much love and effort that goes into making them.
"It's not just bakeries, the whole community gets involved," Vanessa said.
The pie-enthusiast spent May 18 in the region.
The ambassador chowed down pies at the Bradman Museum, Centennial Vineyards and learnt the art of making the perfect pie with the team at Gumnut Patisserie.
Vanessa's top picks for Pie Time:
- Have a pie with a glass of bubbles, or two, with your gal pals at Centennial Vineyards.
- Check out the pie tea events throughout the month.
- Pie Fest at Bong Bong Racecourse will wrap up the event with pies, cooking demonstrations, activities and family fun on Jun 29 and 30.
