Wingecarribee Shire Council met with three community activists, Jeff, Clive and Jane regarding the use of the environment levy to fund the proposed art gallery at Retford Park on May 20.
The current proposal will see $94,000 from the environment levy go towards the proposed art gallery at Retford Park per year for the next five years.
The second community consultation will discuss a compromise between the council and the community. Mayor Duncan Gair has been invited to attend. The council will meet on May 29 to discuss the details of the comprise before presenting them to the public.
Lead campaigner, Clive West, said that the compromise wasn't for them [Jane, Jeff and himself] to decide on but for the community to decide, which is why he has called for a second community consultation.
He also said that the group found a number of inconsistencies regarding the figures affecting the baseline expenditure and brought the matter to the attention of the council.
"They [council] were very surprised and said that they will look in to it," he said.
"There's always been and assurance that that the money was for the environment. It's a shame because most environment lovers are also art lovers."
The meeting to discuss the compromise will be on May 31 from 6 pm at the Bowral Memorial Hall.
