Berrima Public School recently hosted highly regarded UK-based educational author and presenter, James Nottingham, who is best known for his work on teaching and leadership practices.
The presentation attracted interest from about 150 educators, from the Southern Highlands, Wollondilly, Goulburn and South Coast regions, eager to be inspired by Mr Nottingham's insight and practical advice based on the most recent evidence and research in education.
Feedback from the Southern Highlands audience was overwhelmingly positive with teachers describing the presentation as "incredibly informative" and "great content delivered in a really dynamic way."
But none was more inspired than event organiser Berrima Public School principal Karyn Fitzgerald, who is a fan of Mr Nottingham's work on Challenging Learning.
Ms Fitzgerald said she thought it was a long shot to have Mr Nottingham drop into the Highlands for a presentation when he was "next in Australia".
"I thought you never know, he might just say yes! I have to admit I was shocked, but so excited when he responded confirming he would come and speak in the local area," she said.
His company, Challenging Learning, is currently working with 198 schools, 41 pre-schools and 11 colleges across 32 projects in Australia, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the USA.
