A basketball event held at Moss Vale Stadium on the weekend to help inform and educate about mental health but has not hit its mark in terms of numbers.

The day was a family friendly, all inclusive event with the aim of running a low-cost charity event in order to raise awareness and funds targeting the state of mental health in young people in the Southern Highlands.

"Well, it was a bit disappointing with the turnout," Matthew Jensen said.
"The day did go to plan in the way that we had scheduled it, and the team ran really well, but in terms of people showing up, not the best.
"Quite a bit of work went into the day. There were meetings since August last year, that's when we first began to discuss it.
"We put the program together over a number of weeks and began to get people in involved.
"I think the main problem was having a date set and having people book in for that, then pulling the plug on the event quite late.
"That obviously turned a few people off when we had to move the date.
"Switching from the Saturday which had a lot of buy in, to the Sunday, most of the services would have had to pay people to show up on Sunday and couldn't do that."
The day may have had a dampen on it due to low attendance numbers but in that few amount of people, money was raised for a good cause.
"We did raise $500, for charity so that was a good thing," Jensen said.
The Under 21s defeated the Moss Vale Magic, in a friendly match, 90-93.
