This was a champion vs the apprentice final .
Oscar Wahlin had come through the Braithwaite bowls academy and had only been bowling for twelve months. He did not lack enthusiasm, but was outclassed by a player who had reached the zone singles semifinal.
Braithwaite had a 10-3 lead after six ends and you could tell he was a man with a mission,
Then Wahlin playing with confident narrowed the gap to 13-10 on the 12th end.
It was all Braithwaite from then on who was on top of his game and he clinched the match on the 23rd end by 17 shots.
Over the whole match Braithwaite said he was pleased with his game and "it was a privilege to be champion of Bowral."
Braithwaite says of Wahlin that he needs to pay attention to some of his shot selections, but what a big break through in twelve months he has had.
"Now he has reached runner up status in a major championship he should claim the title himself in the years ahead," he said.
