The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens has a very special reason to be excited about autumn in 2019.
We are heralding in a "new look" Autumn Plant Fair.
This annual event is now in its ninth year. In the past, the event has been a wholly "in-house" affair with SHBG volunteers propagating and growing plants especially for the fair.
In 2019, this plant fair is stepping into the big league to bring the Southern Highlands a very special event.
In addition to the now renowned and highly coveted SHBG plant stalls, we will have about 18 visiting stall holders.
These local, regional and interstate nurseries, including some significant growers from Victoria, will bring their own unique and quality plants for sale to the public.
"In addition to the SHBG stalls, we will have about 18 visiting stall holders."
A "speakers' corner" will give patrons the chance to hear some fascinating talks on horticulture topics of interest for the home gardener and related travel.
A display of art curated by John Brain will excite many to browse and be tempted.
Food, coffee, barbecue and a bar will enable an all-day outing.
A plant creche will care for your precious purchases while you continue to look around or relax with a coffee or lunch with a glass of wine.
To make a perfect weekend, the Autumn Open Gardens offer five beautiful private gardens in Bowral and Sutton Forest for everyone to visit and enjoy.
The Southern Highlands Autumn Gardens Weekend and Plant Fair is on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28.
Tickets available on line at shbg.com.au: $10 for the fair or single garden visit; and $35 for the fair and five open gardens.
Tickets also available at each garden and fair.
