No 'forward looking vision'
I'm proud of my progeny - my daughter Kate, and her wise protocols to mum. And I'm encouraged for the future by my feisty little granddaughter, Aria Adelaide, with her insistence of "I do it, I can do it!" when we try to make things easier for her.

I feel we have lost the plot with the issue of overdevelopment in this state, with ugly cardboard eruptions everywhere, and yes, it will occur in the Southern Highlands as well if we do nothing about it.

The planning authorities seem to have no sense, no real forward looking vision. If you destroy all landscape, and all history, what's there to connect you with your past...or your future?
Will we be remembered as the blind and weak society that knowingly allowed poor choices?
Do I need to have my granddaughter step up, at the age of two, to claim responsibility for brave actions? - "I do it, I can do it!"

Farewell to an inspiration
A Salute to Geoff Harvey from the Highland Singers.
Geoff volunteered his musical talent for the Highland Singers for nearly four years from 2014 to the end of 2017.
He was a brilliant accompanist at all our weekly two hour practise sessions and also our regular performances at the local Southern Highlands Nursing Homes, Tulip Time and our Mid year and Christmas concerts.
These two concerts raised much needed funds for Can Assist.
Geoff also entertained the audience with his brilliant solo performance during the concerts.
He was an inspiration for the choir members.
He will be greatly missed.

Surprised by pay rise
I hear constant complaints about the General Manager of Wingecarribee Shire Council.
Several people have expressed frustration because the GM doesn't answer letters within the council's policy time frame.
So I was surprised to note that the council has extended her contract four-five years with a raise, giving her $330,000 pa or $6300 a week.
We ratepayers are a generous lot!
