A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said that a cold front is expected to come through the Highlands on Friday night and stick around for the next few days.
Temperatures will not reach over 20 degrees on the weekend, with Sunday expected to fall to 4 degrees.
Showers are expected to start Friday evening and they will continue into Saturday when a storm is expected. The rain will clear coming into Sunday but temperatures will remain low.
Snow is expected to fall in the alpine regions of NSW on Saturday with heavy falls of 14 cm predicted for Mt Kosciuszko.
The BoM has issued a warning to farmers to keep an eye on vulnerable livestock with cold conditions likely to impact them.
