An appeal by Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens has launched to help build an education centre. The development is heavily dependent on the generosity of the community.
The Botanic Gardens don't receive financial support from the government or council.
The education centre will be a modern facility that will provide the opportunity for community groups to hold and attend lectures, workshops and demonstrations regardless of the weather.
The building will be constructed in the style of the current utility buildings. It will be located next to the Shed and will have bi-fold doors that open to a verandah on three sides. The building will accommodate up to 50 individuals and the most up-to-date audio-visual equipment will form part of the fit-out, together with air conditioning, a kitchenette and solar panels.
The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens aim to raise $500,000 for the development.
