Dolphins have defeated Mariners 10-3, in the penultimate round before the semi finals and stamped themselves as contenders for this season's premiership.
Scoring machine Daniel Barnes was unstoppable, as he beat the defence a massive seven times, out of his team's ten goals, including a triple in the last quarter.
Chelsea Flood contributed two and Ben Canute one. The Mariners managed a goal in each of the first three quarters through Campbell Wakeling, Alex Te-Ame' and John Jamieson.
The Mariners ran into trouble, as they tried to contain the Dolphins attack, with nine exclusions resulting from their inability to contain the athletic Dolphins.
Dolphins exploited their extra person advantage to perfection. Dolphins on the other hand only offered two extra person opportunities with tight and disciplined defence.
The divide in the competition was apparent, as Sharks Defeated Polar Bears 9-1.
With one more round of the regular competition left it would appear that the Sharks have booked a top position as they savaged the understrength Polar Bears.
Sharks led 5-0 at halftime through goals to Christian Antoniak, Jason Nicholas, Lauren Balla and two to Stephen Maitz. It was only in the third quarter that Polar Bears scored through a David Chandler goal. It was a case of too little too late as Sharks scored a further four second half goals with Jason Nicholas, Emma Maddox, Lauren Balla and Gabrielle Butcher all contributing.
The Sharks defence has to be praised, as they restricted the Polar Bears attack most effectively.
The B grade games were all fairly clear results.
The competition leaders, Horton's Heroes, continued on their winning path as they defeated Polar Bears 6-3. They set up the win in the first quarter with three goals to Polar Bears one. Sam Makay with 2 and Tom Sargood, were Horton's scorers, while Andrew Basaglia scored for Polar Bears.
The remainder of the match was close with one goal each in the second and third quarters. Horton's Heroes took the final period one nil, to widen the winning margin. Austin Lockhart with two and Tom Sargood, with his second, were Horton's Heroes second half scorers.
Lauren Cameron and Andrew Basaglia with a second were Polar Bears scorers.
The second placed Mariners defeated Oxley Blue 10-6 in a match that demonstrated how much Oxley Blue has improved this season.
While the Mariners never appeared to be in trouble the young Oxley Blue players never gave up. Leading 4-2 at halftime Mariners were kept on watch, Campbell Wakling 2, Sean Andrews and William Docherty all finding the net for Mariners, while Treahy Finn scored both Oxley Blue goals.
Mariners had a good third period 3-1, before Oxley Blue went goal for goal with Mariners in the final period 3-3. Second half scorers for Mariners were William Docherty 3, Sean Andrews and Campbell Wakeling.
Ben Morton came to life with three, second half goals and Treahy Finn scored his second for the match.
Dolphins defeated Oxley Gold 9-4 with a comfortable victory.
The Dolphins led 5-1 at halftime and always had the match under control. Oxley Gold came back in the second half with a good performance to make a match of it 3-4 in that period.
Oxley Gold has also improved immensely and it was a shame that they let the Dolphins get away before they found their rhythm.
Hamish Barber for Dolphins scored six times and had one of his most productive nights of the season.
Christian Gallina, Alex Ta-Ame' and Hal Canute added goals for the Dolphins while Sophia Dummer, Phillipa Kettlewell and Ben Canute were Oxley Gold's scorers.
