The Gillis family are set to appear on XVenture Family Challenge.
The XVenture Family Challenge TV series features 16 families from across Australia and New Zealand and is set to air on Channel 10 in Australia.
Hosted by Kate Freebairn and award-winning New Zealand musician Jason Kerrison, XVenture is the ultimate Trans-Tasman clash of the families. In an series first in Australia, the energy fueled show combines inflatables, virtual reality, drones and a Grammy award winning songwriter in to a melting pot of fun, entertainment and competition.
Families will need to work together to build trust, communicate and collaborate quickly in order to be successful.
While the series is fast- paced and action packed, there is a deep purpose for its creation. XVenture Family Challenge Series. Mike Conway, show creator and director believes that show can help young people develop skills that can help them later in life.
"During the teenage years there are so many changes facing a young person. If we can provide opportunities for them to develop emotional agility and resilience they'll build closer relationships and have a much greater chance of success in life," he said.
"It's been such a wonderful experience spending time with families from all parts of Australia and New Zealand.
"Our production team experienced first-hand how these family teams evolved over the course of the challenges. Improved communication, collaboration and most importantly trust were at the heart of their transition."
David Gillis, the youngest member of the family said that the challenges were more mental than physical.
"We had an amazing time and we learnt a lot from it," he said.
"We learnt not take to take some of the challenges literally and to think outside the box with some of the tasks."
The show will air from 3:00 pm on 24th March 2019 on Channel 10.
