Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens CEO, Charlotte Webb said that the new Education Centre building will provide a community facility for the benefit of all visitors and locals alike.
"This is a major local project that will provide economic benefits for the community and public open space for the enjoyment of all," she said.
" An unsurpassed location and outlook where education of all type can be undertaken.
"I encourage the community to consider donating whatever they can manage to make this a truly community project.
"We receive no funding from Council or State or Federal Governments. We are a registered charity and not for profit. We host on and off site events to raise funds and the gates are generally open Thursdays and Fridays for people to view the progress."
In attendance was guest speaker, celebrity gardener and two time Chelsea Flower Show winner Charlie Albone spoke about the benefits of a garden and more specifically the local Botanic Gardens to the 165 strong crowd who enjoyed the private garden of hosts David and Jane Newby.
