This indicates that from generous donations and fundraising efforts of so many, it has now distributed over $9.20 million in financial aid for drought relief to 5500 farmers, and those affected by this drought. This effort is continuing with applications for funding still being received daily.

When added to the amounts raised by Queensland CWA and other states this amounts to close on $20 million – a huge effort, and all with no government funding.

Highlands residents will have been aware of the efforts of our seven local CWA branches, working in so many different ways, to raise funds for this cause. We thank you for your support and encouragement.

In examining the Liberal Party candidate election material on his website, there is no mention of it as a priority.

There are lot of people that have to rely on public transport such as the elderly, stroke affected persons, wheelchair bound persons, mothers with prams and expecting mothers that have a need at the station. I hope this is not to be a 'broken promise'.

As an octogenarian, I feel that what would be a good outcome, surely among many, of Friday's youth-organised climate-change demonstrations, is a youth-planned and implemented Australia-wide conference providing a forum for a wide range of concerns - individual, community and institutional.

This should have a declared aim of considering and generating a set of achievable factually-based initiatives to steadily counteract and solve the disruptive, destructive and undesirable effects of climate change.

Youth and children might be considered as having a voice to be discarded or not-believed, or criticised and undermined for stepping out of their adult-society assigned roles. As a family of totality, this presently relegates them to having no voice till they clear the age of 18.

Well in advance of this, however, they have been guided to accept and willingly wholeheartedly practice maxims our schools teach - it is necessary to share, it is necessary to be fair, it is necessary to be firm. They are fit to lead.
