Every Friday morning between 10am and midday the foyer of the Mittagong Anglican Church is open to the public for free morning tea. The church’s professional barista knows how to make one of the best coffees in town. A professional counsellor offering free support to those who might want to talk privately is also available. St. Stephens Church is on the corner of Station and Main Streets and has been reaching out to the community for more than 140 years.
The Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service Suicide Bereavement Support Group will begin on March 5. This is facilitated by bereavement Counsellors Donna and Jo-Anne. This group will be ongoing and held from 6.30pm to 8.00pm on the first Tuesday of each month in Bowral. If you are living with grief after the suicide death of a family member or friend, you are encouraged to come along to the group. Meetings are held at in Bowral at a location yet to be advised. Friends of Wingecarribee Libraries will hold a library book sale on March 29 at the Bowral Memorial Hall in Bendooley Street, Bowral. This will run from 8.30am to 4pm. All interested people are welcome and are encouraged to bring their own bags to collect books.
Tickets are now on sale for the next major fundraising event for Can Assist. This will take the form of a Sunday lunch at Bowral Golf Club on May 5 from midday. Guest speaker will be 'the laughter master' Anthony Ackroyd. Tickets are $75 per person which includes a two course lunch, pre-lunch drinks and nibbles, tea and coffee. All funds raised will go to Can Assist which supports people with diagnosed with cancer in the Southern Highlands and their families. A car boot sale will be held on March 30 at the Old Moss Vale Bowling Club site in Railway Parade, Moss Vale, to raise funds for Rainbow of the Southern Highlands Inc. Rainbow supports families of sick children and children with special needs who live in the Wingecarribee Shire. A miniature rose show will be presented by The Rose Society of NSW Inc at the Mittagong RSL Club on March 16 and 17. The venue will be open to exhibitors from 6.30am to 9.45am on March 16 with judging beginning at 10am. All exhibitors must vacate the exhibition room during judging. The show will be open to the public from 12pm to 5pm on March 16 with the presentation of special awards at 1.30pm. The exhibition will continue on March 17 from 10am to 4pm.
