Barbara Mary Eckersley, 66, of Bundanoon, appeared in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, February 27.
She is charged with murdering her mother, Dr Mary White, 92, who was in a Bundanoon nursing home when she died in August 2018.
Eckersley has not entered a plea to the murder charge.
Last year, police said in a statement before the court hearing that on Sunday, August 5 about 9.35pm, they were called to an aged care facility in the Southern Highlands after Dr White’s death.
The court heard on February 27 that a toxicology report was still outstanding in the police brief of evidence.
In court, Eckersley's solicitor Sam Rowland expressed his frustration at the delay.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie accepted the delay, saying there were delays right across NSW courts at this time.
"I understand the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) has only just had a chance to speak to an expert regarding the toxicology report," Ms Beattie said.
After Eckersley's appearance, Mr Rowland said the outstanding report was an important part of the brief.
"Arguably, it is the most important part of the brief, because it goes to the cause of death," he said.
"The delay is frustrating delay because it has been seven months since proceedings commenced."
The matter has been adjourned to return to Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday March 27.
Eckersley is excused from appearing at the next attendance.
Her bail has been continued.
