How can this be? Is this the price we have to pay for living in a democracy? When someone is bankrupt others lose.  In the case of a debt owing to the Australian Taxation Office we, all the citizens of Australia, lose. We have to make up the loss. We have to pay more tax.

It is a stain on the state of our commercial laws that this can happen. After the next federal election I intend to write to the Attorney General and our local member of federal government and suggest that the Bankruptcy Act needs a major overhaul.

Who will do the same? Needless to say the more the better. 

Monday’s health announcements (in Sydney) by the premier prompts me to ask: why haven’t we heard promises from any of the State election candidates for either Goulburn or Wollondilly for the next already-planned stage of the Bowral and District Hospital redevelopment – including all those extra beds needed to bring it up to what NSW Health says we need now.

Why? Could it be that all the candidates see ours as safe electorates, not worth even promises? I’d vote for a promise that I could trust to be delivered for the continuing re-development of the Southern Highlands local public hospital.

With the development and increasing popularity of Mittagong’s Health Care Centre comes increased traffic at an already busy intersection. Often traffic entering and exiting the centre blocks 'keep clear' zones, holds up lines of traffic, and there is constantly traffic turning illegally to enter the car park.

The parking provided on site seems to only minimally provide for a small number of patients to park, and often street parking obstructs the traffic flow up to the intersection. 

I use this intersection multiple times a day, and have become increasingly concerned about the risk of not only a car accident but pedestrians who constantly cross the road; weaving in between moving traffic. I had numerous questions about how the entrance/exit was approved by council initially, and concerned that nothing has been done to improve the road/parking conditions despite the increase in traffic flow. 

I have nothing against the healthcare centre itself, it provides great health services to our community, but I do worry that I tragedy will occur before traffic conditions are changed.
