This year ANZ is bringing a little bit of Mardi Gras to the Southern Highlands, transforming the Oxford St sign into works of art to celebrate diversity, inclusion and respect for all Australians.
The signpost, called Eternal Flame, is a bright addition to the street, representing an equal future and inclusivity for the LGBTIQ+ community. It symbolises the brave people who marched on Oxford street 41 years ago.
To launch the art installation, Mayor Duncan Gair, Lauren Kelly, founder of Southern Highlands Pink Drinks and Amber Power, ANZ branch manager were on hand to throw confetti in the air.
Research conducted by ANZ shows that almost 1 in 4 LGBTIQ+ community members in NSW are still not comfortable being their true selves and don't feel comfortable discussing their sexuality and gender identity with loved ones or friends.
The installation will be there until March 4.
