The federal government's Roads to Recovery program provided councils with the ability to upgrade local roads, to improve safety and boost economic growth from 2019-20 through to 2023-24.
One of the projects that will receive $512,955 in funding under the program is the removal of the bridge deck over Bundanoon Creek on Meryla Road.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the funding would target several issues.
“This funding will see the bridge abutments rebuilt out of concrete piers and the decking will be supported with new guardrails," Mr Taylor said.
"The gravel road approaches will also be widened."
Other local projects to benefit from Roads to Recovery funding from 2019-20 to 2023-24 include:
- Narellan Road at Moss Vale, sealing, kerb and guttering and a new parking lane - $270,000 Federal contribution.
- Tugalong Road at Canyonleigh – reshaping pavement and improving table drains $200,000 Federal contribution.
“We are investing heavily in the Hume growth corridor, in and around Wingecarribee, to create jobs, to encourage small businesses to expand and new businesses to start up, to build a strong economy," Mr Taylor said in a statement.
