Did you know that one in six people suffer from a hearing impairment?
And did you know that it was an Australian, Graeme Clark, who invented the modern cochlear implant?
Hearing awareness week begins on March 3 - 9, coinciding with World Hearing Day on March 3.
Quota international will host a stall on March 5 between 9 am - 2 pm at Centrelink Bowral and another stall on March 6 between 10 am - 3pm at Mittagong RSL. Pat Fulton, a hearing coach and registered nurse will be on hand to answer questions and assist on any hearing aid or cochlear implant maintenance.
Free hearing screening, hearing aid checks and captel phone offers are some of the services available. There will also be information brochures available on how to cope with hearing loss, government programs, local hearing service providers, choosing between hearing aids and cochlear implants and how wearing listening aids or implants can help train your brain.
