The Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a new board consisting of three directors from 2018 and three new directors, which is a great mix.
One of the first things the new board of the Southern Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry did was to arrange a meeting of the business community to review the Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Draft Rural Tourism Policy.
The chamber, in consultation with other business groups in the area and the Illawarra Business Chamber, believe it is important to gather feedback from all business sectors before they finalise a submission on this important policy.
The chamber arranged for Mr Randall Walker, an independent consultant, to facilitate a meeting of the business community. The chamber invited the Wingecarribee Shire Council and the Illawarra Business Chamber to answer questions and provide insights into the policy and possible outcomes.
The meeting was well attended by over 60 business owners, who were given the opportunity to ask questions about the draft policy.
By the end of the meeting the consensus was that the policy was a great start, however did not go far enough in some areas, and made suggestions for the chamber’s submission.
The chamber would like to thank those that took the time to attend the meeting and provide comment and feedback on the draft policy.
It is important that we capture feedback from the Southern Highlands business community on this very important document.
