The annual ‘Battle of Benton’ competition will attract a record 280 crossfitters from across Sydney and the Illawarra – 50 more than the event last year.
Spectators are welcome to watch 140 teams of two compete in five scored workouts as well as visit the event’s food, BBQ and coffee stalls.
Educational talks about crossfit, fitness and nutrition from on-site experts will be available and you can even try a cryotherapy machine which exposes the body to temperatures as low as 110 degrees Celsius to aid muscle recovery, blood flow and healing.
A total of $3000 in cash prizes as well as sponsor products will be up for grabs during the contest.
This event will showcase the power of movement and how anyone of any ability can get fit and healthy in a supportive environment where fellow members become friends.
- Benton CrossFit owner, Ben Garard
Athletes will compete in the open and scaled division workouts which will involve running, rowing, sled pulls, deadlifts, wallball throws and kettle bell swings.
Benton Crossfit Gym members will help run the event.
This will be the fourth major competition Benton has hosted since it started in the Highlands in 2012.
Benton CrossFit owner, Ben Garard, said the ‘Battle of Benton’ this weekend offered Highlanders the chance to kick start their health and fitness goals for 2019.
“By this time of the year, many New Year resolutions are discarded but an event like this can inspire you and help you action those important health and fitness goals,” Ben said.
“This event will showcase the power of movement and how anyone of any ability can get fit and healthy in a supportive environment where fellow members become friends.
